Choosing activities properly

Book the ones that sell out, leave the rest

Timed entry to a major museum, a small group cooking class or a permit-limited hike are worth holding in advance. Ordinary walking tours and open-ended tickets rarely are, and booking every one of them turns a trip into a schedule you have to keep.

Check what the ticket includes

Skip the line and entry are not the same product, and a tour that meets at a landmark is not always a tour that gets you inside it. The supplier page lists what is included, where it starts and how long it runs. That is the part worth reading before the price.

One a day is usually the right number

Two booked activities in a day leaves no room for the walk between them, lunch, or the thing you find on the way. The trips people remember tend to have one fixed point per day and open time around it.

Cancellation windows are shorter than you think

Many activities are free to cancel up to 24 hours before, not up to the day. If your dates are still moving, check that window before booking rather than after.
