Kyrgyzstan itineraries by trip length

Last updated . Transport, entry and booking details can change. Check the named official sources before travel.

Kyrgyzstan runs on a season and on cash. The high passes to Song Kul are open roughly June to September and the yurt camps physically leave for the winter, so a trip planned for May or October is a different trip. There is also no cash machine near the lake, which surprises people who are used to being able to solve problems on arrival.

Which Kyrgyzstan itinerary should you pick?

The 7 day route, which fits Bishkek, a night in a yurt at Song Kul and the mountains behind Karakol.

Bishkek to Karakol alone is 6 to 8 hours, so a shorter trip means dropping one end of the country rather than moving faster. Sixteen days is what people take who want Kel Suu and the south as well.

What we checked

Why this page exists. Every RoamWeek page has to say something true of it and false of its siblings. For Kyrgyzstan that is the question of how long to stay, which the duration pages below answer one length at a time.
