Hue rewards a slower historical route. The Citadel sits in the city, while Thien Mu Temple and the royal tombs follow the Perfume River beyond the centre, so a short visit needs a deliberate split.
How many days in Hue is enough?
3 days give you 1 day for the Citadel, 1 for the river and Thien Mu, and 1 for the royal tombs.
Two days can cover the Citadel and one tomb cluster, but three days keep the river and the tombs from becoming rushed add ons.
